ilab complete the next stage of their £3.5m expansion program.

This major investment includes a Spirit Telecine for all rushes transfers, ensuring that only state-of-the-art equipment is used for each stage of the in-house rushes service.  The additional high-end Ultra/sonic cleaners, plus new darkroom facilities and the extremely flexible processing hours ensure clients have access to their rushes at the earliest possible opportunity within any 24 hr period,  demonstrating ilab’s commitment to technical excellence backed with the most efficient and personal service.
 
ilab have also agreed with Kodak to be the first UK laboratory to work towards full accreditation for the ‘Kodak ImageCare’ award, thus ensuring that film-makers internationally can be confident that all ilab’s procedures and processes at are at the optimum levels for the most reliable and consistent negative processing service available anywhere.
ilab’s major investment complements their exhibited, purpose built, ‘state of the art’ dual gauge 35/16mm Photomec Silver Sprinter Negative Processor  (a focal point for those who walk pass 55 Poland Street); this is coupled with:
 Two Lipsner Smith CF900 Ultrasonic Cleaners – environmentally friendly and the newest models available in the UK;

The Spirit Telecine – offering SD and HD resolution grading for film originated material as well as tape to tape grading in SD and HD.  ilab offers data deliverables on multi formats including hard drive via DPX files.
 

This investment combined with ilab’s fully personalised, flexible service, ensures that all ilab clients can have the security and confidence in knowing that ilab provide a service dedicated to their needs.

On the landscape of Soho, W1, a new Film Processing Laboratory and Post Production Facility, ‘i lab’, has launched.

Based at 55 Poland Street, i lab opened  in Summer 2006 as the UK’s newest Film Processing Laboratory. i lab offer 16mm and 35mm Negative Processing on state of the art Photomec equipment, Ultrasonic Cleaning, rushes Telecine Transfers via Spirit Datacine, sound sync, multi-format viewing copies and ALE/Flex files, Negative Cutting, EDL Management and ‘i lab Consultancy’, servicing the Commercial, Feature and Broadcast  markets for Directors, Producers, D.O.P.’s, Editors and the entire Production community.

In addition to the in-house services above, i lab have collaborated with the VTR Group to offer ‘i lab consultancy’.  This is the specialised full Post Production package and includes all elements of Picture and Sound Post Production, including full D.I post @ 2k and 4k and VFX work.
As part of our package, we also offer Preview Theatre screening facilities for both Film and 2k projection; truly the most comprehensive and integrated service available.

i lab founders Nigel Horn, Martin McGlone and Vaughn Mullady have a wealth of hands-on experience in all aspects of Post-Production and have come together to offer a personalised approach into the market with a firm commitment to providing the best service at all times.  i lab is a unique film processing facility in the U.K, being wholly independently owned, and managed and run by the very people who own it.

Nigel’s experience includes Technicolor Ltd for 6 years and Ascent Media / Soho Images for 12 years.  At Soho Images, Nigel was Features Manager, where he headed the sales drive and ran the Features Team.

Martin; credited with working with some of the World’s leading Directors and D.O.P.’s, as well as supervising the very first UK Feature Film using 2K DI technology. Martin was also Senior Features Contact at Soho Images.  

Vaughn, with 30 years postproduction experience, has owned and run a number of Production Services, including Trucut Facilities, Commercial Eyes and Two Plus One.
